by admin on August 10, 2010

RCN Corporation has announced the launch of TiVo Premiere from RCN in Chicago. A true one-stop-shop for entertainment, the

TiVo Premiere box offers RCN’s customers a universe of television and broadband delivered entertainment all accessible

through one box, one remote and one user interface.

RCN is the first all-digital TV and broadband provider to have TiVo as its primary provider of DVRs. Beginning with

Washington, D.C. in May, RCN has rapidly rolled out TiVo Premiere to all of its markets including New York City, Boston,

Philadelphia, Lehigh Valley, PA, and now Chicago.

This co-branded, uniquely configured product for RCN’s residential customers goes dramatically beyond the traditional DVR,

combining digital TV with a universe of broadband delivered entertainment. With built-in broadband capabilities, customers

get entertainment from a variety of sources including the ability to access RCN’s Video On Demand (VOD) library, rent movies

from broadband video on demand providers, watch YouTube videos, stream music and more. Additionally, TiVo Premiere can access

music, photos and movies saved on a personal computer.

“Due to the overwhelming number of positive customer responses we’ve received with the rollout of the TiVo Premiere for RCN

across other markets, we are very excited to launch it in our Chicago market ahead of schedule,” said Tom McKay, general

manager of RCN Chicago. “Customers who have been using the system are already giving a thumbs up to TiVo Premiere’s ability

to connect to the Internet, schedule recordings remotely and for its increased storage capacity — all of which are simply

unmatched by other cable providers in Chicago.”

“We are very excited that the TiVo Premiere from RCN is now available in all of RCN’s markets,” said David Sandford, VP and

GM of TiVo’s service provider business. “With this offering, RCN customers have access to an experience no other operator

currently provides, combining traditional television programming with cable video on demand and the rapidly expanding world

of online content. This is a true one-stop-shop for all of your television entertainment.”
