RCN Metro Delivers Dedicated Internet Access To ROAM Data

ROAM Data has selected RCN Metro Optical Networks to deliver Dedicated Internet Access to colocation at 1 Summer Street, Boston. ROAM Data is a mobile applications and commerce gateway service provider that delivers valuable real-time information and transactions to mobile professionals.

ROAM Data increases their network capacity and improves the resiliency of its network with multiple network service providers and data centers with RCN Metro’s Dedicated Internet Access.

AT&T Has More Than 200,000 U-verse TV Customers in Houston

AT&T has announced that more than 200,000 customers in Houston have signed up U-verse TV for past three years after the launch of the service here.

AT&T has launched U-verse TV in Houston in November 2006 and this service is available in Houston region, including parts of Brazoria, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris and Montgomery counties. AT&T has launched its service first in Texas State after legislation passed in September 2005 by the Texas Legislature and signed by Gov. Rick Perry.

Don Cain, AT&T Texas president, said “Today’s AT&T U-verse subscriber milestone reflects our commitment to make the investments necessary to bring consumers across the greater Houston area a new era of true video competition. We are thrilled to offer this innovative video choice to Houston area customers, and even more excited about the strong customer response we’re seeing.”

HDNet Inks Pact With ‘Mark Burnett Presents: King of the Cage’

HDNet has entered multi-year partnership with ‘Mark Burnett Presents: King of the Cage.’ Under this agreement, HDNet will premiere Live “King of the Cage” events every month with first event will broadcast on HDNet on Friday, February 12 at 10:00 p.m. ET.

King of the Cage is a mixed martial arts (MMA) promoter based in Southern California founded in 1998 by Terry Trebilcock. This event has grown as international event in Canada, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Japan.

King of the Cage has launched the careers of many MMA superstars including Forrest Griffin, Quinton Jackson, and Urijah Faber.

Outdoor Channel announced that it has signed a multi-year deal with the network’s hallmark outdoor couple Lee and Tiffany Lakosky. This deal will allow Outdoor channel to endorse Lee and Tiffany Lakosky on promotional spots and brand IDs broadcast online.

Lee and Tiffany Lakosky will appear to represent Outdoor Channel’s trade and consumer shows. The hallmark outdoor couple appear on annual SHOT Show in Las Vegas from January 19-22 will be among the Lakoskys’ upcoming Outdoor Channel appearances.

Lee and Tiffany Lakosky are a youthful and energetic hunting duo. The couple has devoted themselves to the outdoor lifestyle and is extremely skilled in the art of hunting. Hank Fore Promoted As Comcast’s Regional Vice President For Oregon-SW Washington

Comcast Corporation has announced that Hank Fore has been promoted as Regional Vice President of the Oregon/SW Washington region. Hank Fore will be based in Comcast’s Beaverton, Oregon office and report to Comcast West Division President Steve White and will oversee all aspects of Comcast’s video, high-speed Internet and telephone operations from Longview, WA to Eugene, OR.

Fore served as Comcast’s Area Vice President of East Bay Area market in California held management responsibilities and improved the customer experience, dramatically improving the local technical operations metrics, including on time arrival of technicians and repeat trouble calls.

The Golf Channel Launches First HD Broadcast After Completing HD Transition

The Golf Channel has launched it first broadcast of ‘Golf Central’ in high-definition on January 4. The Golf channel has completed its new studio in Orlando, Fla. with new sets will live in the same 4,700-square-foot space but now will include four, separate “environments,” from which various studio shows will originate.

The Golf Channel President Page Thompson said “This spectacular new studio – as well as new graphics and music for Golf Central – show our continued commitment to updating and improving our channel. Commenting on the show’s reach into 82 million homes in the United States and 40 million elsewhere around the world, Thompson continued, “Golf Central is the leading news program for the sport, and now we have a new studio that truly reflects the passion and dedication we have to this great game.”

The Golf Channel has also partnered with Ohio-based aboutGolf, which has installed a highly customized PGA TOUR Simulator that will be utilized by GOLF CHANNEL analysts for real-to-life demonstrations – like shot re-creation – and for shows like The Golf Fix, the popular, high-energy instructional show hosted by Michael Breed.

Cox Launches Wireless Phone And Mobile High Speed Internet Services in Hampton Roads, Omaha and Orange County

Cox Communications announced that it has launched wireless phone and mobile high speed Internet services in Hampton Roads, Va., Omaha, Neb.; and Orange County, Calif.

Cox has launched this service to select Cox customers in the first three markets, and Cox will expand the service across Hampton Roads, Omaha and Orange County during 2010.

Cox is the first United States Company to launch fully-integrated wireless phone and mobile high speed Internet services. By launching this service Cox has donated $25,000 valued brand new computer technology centers each to a local Boys & Girls Club in Hampton Roads, Omaha and Orange County.

Pat Esser, president of Cox Communications, said “More than forty percent of our residential customers trust us to be their telephone service provider and two-thirds of our subscribers take all three of our existing services. Our customers have asked us to include wireless services as part of their bundle and we’ve listened.”

Verizon Launches Three International Channels To FiOS TV Subscribers

Verizon Communications announced the launch of three international channels to its FiOS TV subscribers. The three new channels launched are from World TV are:

Greek programming
Korean
Mandarin

Verizon has launched following international channels:

Antenna – channel 1789 is first Greek channel to FiOS TV subscribers, featuring comedies, dramas, news, current affairs programs, game shows, entertainment programming and more.

Phoenix North America – channel 1797 is a Mandarin channel offering news and entertainment, including programs like “Phoenix North America News” and “Experience America”; the channel joins CCTV4 (channel 1795) and CTI (channel 1796) in a new Chinese Mandarin package.

YTN – channel 1761 is CNN news channel of Korea, which joins a new Korean package that also includes MBC.

Verizon is now offering 35 international channels covering 20 languages.
