New FiOS TV Subscribers in Florida Can Now Enjoy a Higher-Capacity Multi-Room DVR Free

New FiOS customers choosing either a triple- or quad-play bundle can also choose to lock in a higher-capacity multi-room DVR, free of charge, for as long as they maintain their FiOS bundle.

The price for the multi-room DVR typically runs $19.99 per month. The new DVR boxes provide 500 gigabytes of hard-drive capacity, with the ability to store more than three times more programming than the previous DVR offered with FiOS and approximately 60 hours of HD-specific programming. The multi-room DVR supports viewing of recorded content on up to seven TVs in one house, up to three of them simultaneously.

Bundles range in price from $99.99 per month to $129.99 per month for triple plays. Quad-play bundle pricing is dependent on the Verizon Wireless calling plan chosen but starts by adding $39.99 to the FiOS bundle price for a 450-minute calling plan. Triple-play bundles are available with a two-year term or on a month-to-month basis as a part of Verizon’s Worry-Free Guarantee. Verizon Wireless calling plans require a two-year term contract.

All prices represent base pricing; taxes and fees are not included, nor are discretionary choices like premium channel packages or additional set-top boxes. Other offers, including a Verizon Visa® prepaid card worth up to $100, may be selected if a customer is not interested in the multi-room DVR.

FiOS offers a broad collection of programming on TV, with more than 520 all-digital channels including 141 HD channels in its Florida lineup and 19,000 monthly video-on-demand titles. FiOS also provides next-generation interactive services including an advanced interactive media guide; social networking, news and entertainment widgets; remote DVR management via broadband or cell phone; and more.

In addition to the Worry-Free Guarantee, Verizon provides its residential customers with access to an industry-leading inventory of service tools to use via the company’s intelligent networks, creating multiple options for consumers and allowing them to choose how, when and where they want service access. To help customers understand the various service options available to them every day – both traditional and self-driven tools — Verizon produces an Online Interactive Brochure providing a directory of service features and instructions on how to use them. The Interactive Brochure helps customers make the best choice for the service they need and is continually revised as more online service tools are added or updated.

Verizon Launches Online Game Portal Offering More Than 1,500 Games

Verizon has launched online game portal www.games.verizon.com, providing access to more than 1,500 games. Verizon has partnered with digital media company Exent and its GameTanium product to create a more engaging, game-like environment.

Verizon Games provides access to PC games like Cooking Dash, Bejeweled 2, Plants vs. Zombies, and Boggle.

Jason Henderson, games product manager at Verizon said “The early positive feedback from our test gamers has been overwhelming, and we’ve been looking forward to the opportunity to open up the new Verizon Games experience to all of our customers. With the new app and Web site, people will get the same unparalleled customer experience from their PC games service as they do from Verizon’s TV, Internet, and phone services.”

The updated app includes a community program that provides access to an avatar and 3D animated games lounge, and allows players to earn trophies and prize points.

In other Verizon news, the company on Monday showed off some of the technological contributions it is making to the new Meadowlands Stadium in New Jersey – home to the New York Giants and New York Jets.

Verizon is teaming with Cisco to bring 34 channels of customized HD content to the stadium, which will let fans view a variety of content at select areas throughout the venue. The Giants and Jets are also working with Verizon to provide fans with customized apps that will show concession information, team news, player information, scores and highlights.

Verizon Launches Three International Channels To FiOS TV Subscribers

Verizon Communications announced the launch of three international channels to its FiOS TV subscribers. The three new channels launched are from World TV are:

Greek programming
Korean
Mandarin

Verizon has launched following international channels:

Antenna – channel 1789 is first Greek channel to FiOS TV subscribers, featuring comedies, dramas, news, current affairs programs, game shows, entertainment programming and more.

Phoenix North America – channel 1797 is a Mandarin channel offering news and entertainment, including programs like “Phoenix North America News” and “Experience America”; the channel joins CCTV4 (channel 1795) and CTI (channel 1796) in a new Chinese Mandarin package.

YTN – channel 1761 is CNN news channel of Korea, which joins a new Korean package that also includes MBC.

Verizon is now offering 35 international channels covering 20 languages.

Verizon Launches FiOS TV Service in East Providence And Woonsocket, R.I.

Verizon Communications has launched FiOS TV service in East Providence and Woonsocket on Sept. 8. Verizon FiOS TV delivers more than 500 total channels, including 123 HD channels in Rhode Island – more than any local cable TV company, including Cox.

FiOS TV will be available to Rhode Island residents and have the option to reduce their monthly bills by bundling FiOS TV service, FiOS Internet service and the Verizon Freedom Essentials unlimited calling plan.

FiOS TV service highlights include:

Return to Paused Programming — Allows customers to pause live programming, change channels, and then return to the paused program and pick up where they left off.

What’s Hot on FiOS TV — Features information on the most-popular programs currently being broadcast in the region and the most popular VOD titles.

Channel sorting options — Customers can create two separate lists of favorite channels for family members. Customers also can filter channels in the guide by genre, for instances where a customer may only want to see HD content, international channels or kids programming, among others.

Fantasy Football – FiOS TV customers who are registered users of ESPN Fantasy Football will have instant on-screen access to personalized NFL statistics, including rosters, box scores, scoring leaders and player information.

Free casual games — With the remote control and an HD set-top box, customers can access chess, solitaire, sudoku and wordplay.

Media Manager — a feature that lets customers wirelessly bring personal photos, music and slide shows to life from their computers to their TVs.

Multi-Room DVR — Verizon’s Home Media DVR allows customers to stream recorded HD and standard-definition (SD) programs to up to six other TV sets throughout the home. This includes the ability to watch three separately recorded shows on three TV sets at the same time, plus pause recorded programming in one room and continue watching in another.

Remote DVR management — All FiOS subscribers can remotely control their DVRs online, and Media Manager subscribers can use this service via any cell phone with a data plan. Verizon And YES Network Partner To Deliver Online Yankees Games To FiOS TV & Broadband Subscribers

Verizon has announced that it has joined with The YES Network and started offering New York Yankees baseball games online live to FiOS TV and broadband subscribers with the Yankees-Mariners game on YES Network on Aug.14. Verizon and the YES Network multi-year agreement will provide Verizon Internet customers who subscribe to FiOS TV and also are receiving the YES Network in-market programming as part of their TV package will be able to buy access to live, streaming coverage of Yankees games throughout the remainder of the 2009 regular season.

Verizon FiOS TV Adds New Widget Bazaar Applications Marketplace And Internet Video Service

Verizon’s FiOS TV’ has come up with the Widget Bazaar applications store and Internet Video on TV. With these new applications FiOS TV subscribers can connect with others while watching TV and search and view a variety of online, personal PC-based videos on their television screens. Verizon Launches FiOS1 Channels To Long Island And New Jersey FiOS TV Subscribers

Verizon Communications has launched two new channels named FiOS1 to the FiOS TV subscribers in Long Island, New York and nine counties in northern New Jersey. FiOS TV subscribers will have options of new choices for local information, entertainment and sports.

The new channels FiOS1 Long Island and FiOS1 New Jersey, which won’t be available on cable, will provide news, regular traffic and weather reports, and other programming.

Verizon To Deliver FiOS TV Service To Clay Town Residents

Verizon has announced that it will soon launch its FiOS TV serivce to the Onandaga County town residents. The central New York region has approved Verizon as the television franchise and the Clay Town is the first municipality in the central New York region to approve, and Verizon have started building the infrastructure to deliver FiOS TV service later in the year.

This is the 148th TV franchise Verizon has secured in New York and The Telco is expecting more TV franchise discussions with other central New York municipalities during 2009.

Andres Irlando, Verizon senior vice president for the New York region said “This marks yet another milepost in the expansion of our revolutionary FiOS TV product; bringing FiOS TV to a new region demonstrates Verizon’s commitment to the state in terms of investment, jobs and state-of-the-art broadband technology that leapfrogs anything currently available from other carriers.
