Cox Launches 13 New High-Definition channels in Northern Virginia

Cox Communications has launched 13 new high-definition channels to its subscribers in Northern Virginia markets. Cox presently have 78 HD channels and offers 365 HD choices to its subscribers in Northern
Virginia. Following are the new HD channels included:

Disney HD
Disney XD HD
Encore HD
HBO2 HD
Investigation Discovery HD
More Max HD
MSNBC HD
Starz Edge HD
Tennis Channel HD and
TMC HD

Cox Launches Wireless Phone And Mobile High Speed Internet Services in Hampton Roads, Omaha and Orange County

Cox Communications announced that it has launched wireless phone and mobile high speed Internet services in Hampton Roads, Va., Omaha, Neb.; and Orange County, Calif.

Cox has launched this service to select Cox customers in the first three markets, and Cox will expand the service across Hampton Roads, Omaha and Orange County during 2010.

Cox is the first United States Company to launch fully-integrated wireless phone and mobile high speed Internet services. By launching this service Cox has donated $25,000 valued brand new computer technology centers each to a local Boys & Girls Club in Hampton Roads, Omaha and Orange County.

Pat Esser, president of Cox Communications, said “More than forty percent of our residential customers trust us to be their telephone service provider and two-thirds of our subscribers take all three of our existing services. Our customers have asked us to include wireless services as part of their bundle and we’ve listened.”

Cox On DEMAND Debut Starz Series ‘Crash,’ Free Sneak Preview On September 11

Cox Communications has announced that the first episode of the new season of Starz Entertainment’s “Crash” will be available On DEMAND beginning September 11 in standard and high-definition. Cox will bring the second season on September 18.

The “Crash” second season early sneak preview precedes the September 18th Starz primetime premiere at 10PM ET/PT. Episodes for the entire season of “Crash” will remain a staple in the Starz On Demand programming mix and will debut on Starz the same day they debut on Starz On Demand.

David Pugliese, senior vice president of marketing for Cox said, “Cox is pleased to offer all of our digital cable customers an exciting sneak preview of the Starz hit ‘Crash.’ Our On DEMAND platform allows our customers to enjoy the shows before they can be seen anywhere else, all at no additional charge.”

Cox Hampton Roads Appoints Thomas Watkins As New Director Of Sales

Cox Communications has appointed Thomas W. Watkins as its new Director of Sales for Cox Business in Hampton Roads. Watkins as Director will lead the Cox Business sales team to promote Cox business solutions for voice, internet and video for small, medium and large businesses. Further to this, Watkins will also promote Cox Business products to educational, government and other specific markets in Hampton Roads.

Cox Communications Adds 21 New HD Channels To Hampton Roads Subscribers

Cox Communications has announced the launch of 21 high-definition channels to its subscribers in Hampton. Cox subscribers in Hampton now receive up to 56 HD channels. Cox has also included U.S. Army base Fort Monroe in this expansion.

Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Gloucester, Poquoson, parts of Williamsburg, Newport News, West Point, New Kent, and King and Queen County subscribers are also delivered with the new HD channels.

Cox Communications Launches WRIC in HD

Cox Communications has launched WRIC HD on channel 708 to its subscribers in King & Queen County, New Kent, and West Point. Cox will also move CNN HD to channel 707 and following are the new channels available for West Point, New Kent and King & Queen County subscribers:

WRIC – Channel 8

CNN HD – Channel 707 and

WRIC HD – Channel 708

“Cox is making these changes because there will be better alignment of the HD channels with their standard definition channels and we believe this will ease channel reference for our Middle Peninsula customers. Cox To Add MASN HD And MLB Extra Innings on April 1

Cox Communications will add MLB Extra Innings and MASN HD on April to its subscribers in Hampton Roads. Cox is planning to bring MLB Extra Innings to channels 671 – 684. MASN HD will be added on channel 739 on April 1 and will deliver unprecedented baseball coverage in high-definition.

MASN HD will bring 200 games of the Washington Nationals and the Baltimore Orioles and also will carry Baltimore Ravens pre-season games, selected NCAA basketball, football and lacrosse games, and ESPN News. The sports network has lined up more than 500 live sporting events in 2009.

Scott Knaub Appointed As Executive Director Of Wireless Business

Cox Communications has announced that Scott Knaub has been appointed as Executive Director of Wireless Business Operations. He will oversee the financial operations, business case analysis, roaming negotiations and roaming infrastructure development.

Knaub started as a Director of Business Operations in the cox’s corporate office in 2000 and was promoted as Vice President of Business Operations for Cox’s New England System.

Stephen Bye also said “Scott brings a tremendous depth of operational and financial experience to the wireless team and will be a key contributor to the success of this new business for Cox.

Free Sneak Previews of Starz Original Comedy Series on Cox

Digital Cable customers of Cox are to get a free On DEMAND sneak preview of two Starz original series, beginning March 13th. Cox has said that the cable operator has signed a deal with Starz Entertainment to bring sneak preview of new episodes of “Head Case” and the new comedy series, “Party Down.” These Comedy series will be made available for free and unlimited on demand viewing through the FreeZone section of On DEMAND.

David Pugliese, Cox’s senior vice president of product marketing said “New episodes of the Starz comedies complement the thousands of free options available in our On DEMAND library; we are pleased to join Starz again and offer on-demand previews of each series to our digital customers at no charge.”
